A cold weather and gray sky over Nuremberg, Germany welcomed the exhibitors and visitors of the 2008 edition of the IWA, the European largest and most important trade show for outdoor and hunting gear.

This year the show attracted more than 1055 exhibitors and over 31.000 visitors from more than 100 nations. The show organization was, as usual, flawless.

We had a chance to spend a couple of days at the IWA to see new products and talking to industry executives.

As the IWA comes a few months after the ATA show (that we covered here) there was no major news in the crossbow business however we managed to see something interesting nevertheless.

Armcross

Armcross from Moscow, Russia, was at the IWA with its famous LeoPro. The LeoPro is an unconventional design crossbow with the limbs reversed “pushing” the arrow as opposed to a conventional “pulling” design. This design is now licensed by Horton and offered on their reCon crossbow as well.  Armcross now offers also a line of accessories including a backpack to transport the crossbow. The backpack, named IGEL FIX allows the crossbow to be safely transported and quickly deployed. Thanks to the original and extremely compact design of the LeoPro  the crossbow, when carried in the backpack,  does not exceed shoulder width . At the Armcross booth we had a chance to briefly speak with Pavel  Ivanov , inventor and designer of the LeoPro. He has many new and exciting ideas on crossbow, unfortunately,  being located in Moscow makes it is a little more difficult to develop these new ideas. Having seen the LeoPro we are excited thinking what he could come up with next!

Armcross at its booth also had two of the prettiest hostess of the show (Not strictly crossbow related but it was a pleasure to come over their booth again and again… J ).
