Assembly
The new
Predator crossbow departs from the classic
Barnett quick detach mechanism design for the riser
assembly. It uses in fact a more classic Allen
screw to secure the riser section onto the
rail-stock. The system may not be as fast as the
previous but it does not require more than a
minute. As I can control the torque of the screw
tightening this kind of coupling makes me feel
as it is more precise.
The
Barnett Predator shares the stock with the Revolution AVi
and , as you may remember from our review
(here) the Revolution AVi uses an aluminum stud
to center the stock-barrel assembly onto the riser. On
the Predator the
centering stud is still present but it is
threaded to accept the riser screw. The coupling
is not direct but it is made via a threaded
steel insert (see picture) . This is very good
thing point as the riser's steel screw
will not engage directly onto softer aluminum
but onto the steel insert ensuring a tight
and worry free assembly.
The
scope can then be installed in minutes and the red
dot can be installed in a matter of seconds as
it has an integral mounting base .
The
Predator is available in two package
configurations : one with a 4x32 multi reticle
scope and one with a red dot (single dot).
Note that Barnett uses the small 3/8 rail
therefore be careful if you decide to mount a 3rd
party optic.
