The Vixen crossbow and its included
accessories are very well engineered
and designed with attention to detail:
for example the pin sight is mounted on a
dovetail that insures precise alignment, the pin
sight has a fiber optic dot in order to provide
optimum visibility.
In order to save few dollars more the plastic
stock does without any fancy camo pattern
and is left unpainted in its natural
brown tone. The color is not bad and in the wood
blends well , also being the plastic compound
color it does not chip off should you scratch
the stock.
The Vixen uses the same components as the
rest of Excalibur’s family (riser, limbs,
trigger assembly) that are precisely
manufactured an machined. The riser for example
is machined from an aluminum billet with many
operations due to its complex design but shows
no tool marks indicating an accurate finish.
The flight rail is common to other
Excalibur’s models but here is shorter because
the power stroke of the Vixen is the shortest in
the lineup at 13.5” (excluding the target model
APEX).
Build quality is impressive considering the
price. Looks like the manufacturer did not cut
any corner in order to reduce the cost. From a
top of the line model you just have to settle
for a lower arrow speed and do without camo.
Note:
you should really invest a few
dollars more to get a scope mount and possibly
the very nice LumiZone scope as the scope will
help exploit the crossbow full potential
especially at longest distances (20-30 yards).
