Field testing , some fun wit slow camera speeds

Spin balanced nock design and balanced arrow

A small pocket magnet helps saving battery
as you retrieve arrows downrange

In the field
The Firenock during our tests performed
flawlessly. In fact it turned on reliably with
every shot up to 350FPS (this is the fastest we
were able to test for now).
The Firenock electronic circuit has an anti
shock feature. It is in fact prevented to switch
off for 4 seconds after it is turned on, even
with heavy arrow impacting our test Ethafoam
target that ensures a quick stop but also
delivers brutal deceleration to arrows and
components (the arrow is stopped in 10-12” ) the
LED remained lit until deliberately turned off .
This latter point may deserve some thinking from
Firenock: you shoot your Firenock equipped
arrows into target , leave your crossbow, walk
downrange to retrieve arrows and now you
probably want to turn off the Firenocks in order
to save batteries …. But the magnet is glued
onto your crossbow… I solved this stealing a
magnet stick from my child’s toy Geomag and
carrying it into my pocket.
It is not really a problem but just a note:
adding a second magnet (maybe different size,
pocket friendly) into the package will make a
good product just perfect.
While we are on the battery : the battery is
replaceable and removing the old to install a
fresh one is reasonably easy but as it involves
removing very small parts (O-Rings) it is really
something you do not want to do in the field.
The battery though it looks like a common
fishing float battery (usually made by Korean
company MIRAE) it is a custom one (it has a
special o-ring groove) therefore you need to
order your spares from Firenock.
The Firenock weights about 28.6 grains,
variation between the 3 samples we had is +-0.2
grains thus its weight is really consistent.
Conclusions
The Firenock International
Firenock is well engineered product , its
performs flawlessly . It is moderately priced at
US$ 49.99 (online) for 3 nocks but it offers the
convenience of matched weight practice nocks. It
is a worthwhile investment if you shoot high end
and pricey carbon arrows or you need to fine
tune your arrow flight. If you plan to use them
for hunting to help retrieve game, they are
invaluable.
