Usage
The Leupold Mojave is really a pleasure to
use for many reasons:
The multi coated lenses offer a crystal clear
vision and colors appear true.
The image is very sharp even at the edges of
the lenses. The lens edges
are an area you should check as it is a good
indicator of the quality of components the
manufacturer is using. Sometimes in order to cut
costs some manufacturer use lower quality lenses
and, as a result, you do not get the “sharp edge
to edge” image that you deserve. Clearly it does
not happen in a Leupold.
The Mojave binoculars is really well designed
from and ergonomic viewpoint: it is very
balanced , it is easy to handle, you hands (even
larger or gloved ones) fell right at home ,
thumbs holes in the lower side and textured
finger areas on the top really help.
The focusing knob is really a big one (see
pictures) , it easy to reach and
turn with either your index finger or with the
thumb on the lower side. I also appreciated the
long focusing excursion as it easier to fine
focus or
The twists up eyecups are really convenient:
they twist up in a second when you need to cut
some side light and reflexes, yet they can be
easily tucked away as you can do without.
A threaded hole for a tripod adapter hidden
under the front medallion is an added bonus when
you need more stability.
We choose the 10x42 configuration as we use
it on longer ranges and prefer some more
“reaching power” but 8x42 is also available. The
8x42 configuration offers a larger field of view
and a brighter image (5.3mm exit pupil Vs 4mm for
the 10x)
The Leupold Mojave is available in Black
(reviewed in this article) or in Mossy Oak
Treestand.
Conclusions
The Leopold Mojave 10x42 offers top of the
line performance for the budget conscious,
loaded with features it will soon become your
best friend on the field, at US $479 (MSRP) it is a solid
investment you will never regret.
Surely a recommended buy.
